Anti-Spam Policy
Last updated: March 15, 2026 · Effective: March 15, 2026
BethelOA has a zero-tolerance policy for spam. All users must comply with this policy. Violations result in immediate account suspension.
1. Definition of Spam
Spam is any unsolicited bulk email sent to recipients who have not given explicit, verifiable consent to receive emails from you. This includes:
- Emails sent to purchased, rented, or scraped email lists
- Emails sent to addresses harvested from websites or social media
- Emails sent without a clear opt-in record
- Misleading or deceptive subject lines or sender information
- Emails that misrepresent the sender's identity
2. Consent Requirements
Before sending any email through BethelOA, you must have obtained explicit consent from each recipient. Acceptable forms of consent include:
- A completed opt-in form on your website with a clear description of what they are signing up for
- A confirmed double opt-in (recommended)
- A clear checkbox during purchase or registration (not pre-checked)
- A written or verbal agreement with a record of when consent was given
You must be able to provide proof of consent if requested. "I have their business card" or "they're my customer" does not constitute email marketing consent.
3. Sending Thresholds
BethelOA monitors all sending activity. We enforce these limits to protect our infrastructure and your deliverability:
0.1%
Spam complaint rate limit — enforced by Google and Yahoo. Exceeding this triggers warnings and potential account suspension.
5%
Hard bounce rate limit — indicates a low-quality or old list. Accounts consistently exceeding this may be suspended.
0.5%
Current BethelOA.com rate — we are actively working to bring this below 0.1% using our engaged-only sending feature.
4. Required Email Elements
Every email sent through BethelOA must include:
- Your real name or company name in the "From" field
- A valid reply-to email address
- Your valid physical mailing address
- A clear, one-click unsubscribe link that functions immediately
- An accurate subject line that reflects the email content
These requirements comply with the CAN-SPAM Act (USA), CASL (Canada), and similar legislation globally.
5. Prohibited Content
You may not send emails through BethelOA containing:
- Phishing attempts or fraudulent content
- Malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Illegal products or services
- Pornographic or adult content (without age verification and explicit consent)
- Pyramid schemes or multi-level marketing schemes that are illegal
- Content that violates any intellectual property rights
- Threats, harassment, or hate speech
6. List Hygiene
To maintain good deliverability, we recommend:
- Removing hard bounces immediately after each campaign
- Removing contacts who haven't opened in 6–12 months
- Using our "Engaged Only" sending feature for better inbox placement
- Never buying, renting, or trading email lists
- Regularly cleaning your list of invalid addresses
7. Enforcement
BethelOA monitors for spam violations through:
- Automated complaint rate monitoring via Amazon SES and Google Postmaster Tools
- Bounce rate tracking on all campaigns
- Manual review of flagged accounts
- AWS SNS webhook integration for real-time complaint processing
Accounts in violation may receive a warning, temporary sending suspension, or permanent account termination depending on the severity and frequency of violations.
8. Reporting Spam
If you believe you have received spam sent through our platform, please report it to us at bethel@betheloa.com with the full email headers. We take all reports seriously and investigate promptly.
